Well Jeremys first game was Saturday March 1. The red Sox won 7-1 with Jeremy scoring the tying run. Yes jeremy scored at his firts baseball game ever.
He had two at bats the first one he struck out because the pithcer pitched low and Jeremy thought they were balls. After the second strike the coach said Swing so he swung at a ball and struck out. His second at bat he got walked. He stoled second and third and was walked in. Either way he was set to score because there was only one out and at the level of play the home plate was wide open.
As far as his fielding. He had right field. There was one left hander so both at bats came to Jeremy. The first one was an assist. The first baseman missed the pop fly so jeremy was already heading to the ball and threw it to first. The coach instead of saying good job said that he should have thrown to second. The second oppurtunity he had was the same batter this time he hit a hard grounder between center and right and went all the way to the fence (this is a 10 year old I am talking about). Jeremy ran and threw the ball right in the glove of the cuttoff man. Unfortunately the kid made a homerun on the play(well deserved though).
So as far as his first game it was a success. Jeremy had a lot of fun and was happy with his game.
When I asked, Jeremy said he learned to pay attention to his coaches. Unfortunately they have only had a few practices because of the weather so he has not had a lot of chance to work with the team. Until he was on base he never knew about stealing. We have been working alot on strategy and procedures BUT I didnt know all the rules for little league so there are certain things I cant teach or work with until I find out.
This week we are going to work extra on stealing, sliding and batting.
